This hybrid course is geared towards the second grade student. Students will be exposed to the world of money. Classroom instruction will cover the basics about the different coins. At home, students will be expected to complete the online course for homework assignments and to receive extra practice. For the unit on money, real-world application is needed in order for students to make sense of the information. They will be working with vocabulary words, listening to read-along stories, watching YouTube clips, and completing activities that will help them make connections and conceptually understand how pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars are used in today’s society.

This 4-week course provides training in the text-to-speech program Kurzweil 3000. This class will take place Monday evenings from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm online. The program supports all student but is designated for students with different learning styles and/or physical needs in the area of reading and studying their textbooks. Students will learn how to use Kurzweil 3000 as an accommodation for reading and studying electronic versions of their textbooks. Students will be given the option to request their tests/exams for subject area classes to be converted into the Kurzweil format. Students will also learn how to use Ginger Software to proofread their assignment before submitting to Moodle.
